Background

Stephen Kevin Bannon is a far-right political strategist, media executive, and former Goldman Sachs banker who served as executive chairman of Breitbart News and as CEO of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. He served as White House Chief Strategist from January to August 2017, when he was fired. Trump pardoned him in January 2021 on charges of defrauding donors of a private “We Build the Wall” fundraising campaign. He was subpoenaed by the January 6 Select Committee, refused to testify, and was convicted on two counts of contempt of Congress in July 2022. He was sentenced to four months in federal prison in October 2023, reported to prison in July 2024.
