Background

Michael Thomas Flynn is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General who served as National Security Advisor for 24 days in 2017, the shortest tenure in the position’s history. He resigned after reports that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence about conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition, in which he discussed sanctions against Russia.
