Background
Jeffrey Clark is an American attorney who, as a senior Justice Department official at the end of Donald Trump’s first term, pressed the department to intervene in the 2020 election, including by drafting a letter urging Georgia officials to delay certification, and Trump considered installing him as acting Attorney General. He was named as a co-conspirator in the federal election-obstruction indictment and was charged in the Fulton County, Georgia, racketeering case, and he faced disbarment proceedings over his conduct.
