Georgia election worker; daughter of Ruby Freeman; co-plaintiff in Giuliani defamation suit
Background
Shaye Moss worked as a Fulton County, Georgia election worker and is the daughter of Ruby Freeman. She and her mother were falsely accused by Rudy Giuliani and Trump allies of manipulating ballots during the November 2020 Georgia presidential election count. Moss testified before the January 6 Committee in June 2022, describing how the relentless harassment caused her to gain weight, lose friends, and rarely leave her home. In December 2023, a federal jury awarded Moss and Freeman $148 million in their defamation suit against Giuliani, one of the largest defamation verdicts in U.S. history.
