Tina Peters Voting System Breach
🟤 Election Tampering ·
Aug 2021
Summary
Mesa County, Colorado Clerk Tina Peters, a Republican and Trump ally, orchestrated a security breach of the county’s Dominion Voting Systems election equipment during a software update in August 2021. Peters used another official’s security badge to allow an individual connected to MyPillow founder Mike Lindell (a prominent Trump election denier) unauthorized access to the election management systems. The county’s voting machines had to be replaced after passwords and data were posted online. Peters was convicted in August 2024 of four felony and three misdemeanor charges including criminal impersonation and official misconduct. She was sentenced to 9 years in prison; the conviction was upheld on appeal. Trump falsely claimed Peters was ‘convicted for trying to stop Democrats from stealing Colorado Votes’ and pressured the state to release her.
