July 15, 2026: Source pages now embed archived originals

Source pages have been reworked to show each source as it originally appeared, rather than as text copied into this site. Even though I personally think the text reproductions of sources in this website are “fair use” and transformative as they are part of a larger body of work, this change reduces my exposure to takedown requests from commercial news outlets that could prompt CloudFlare to remove my website.

  • The Source Text section of most source pages now displays the Wayback Machine snapshot of the original article or document, preserving its original formatting.
  • CourtListener sources are the exception. Court records are public domain and have no clean single page to embed, so those pages keep their curated excerpts.
  • A small number of news sources do not yet have an archived snapshot. Their copied text has been removed. Summaries for these sources will be added in a future update.
  • Nothing has been lost. Private archival copies of all removed text are retained offline, and every source page continues to link to both the original URL and its archived copy.
  • The Methodology page has been updated to reflect the new source format.
  • The About page has been updated to reflect this new “Site Updates” page
  • This “Site Updates” page has been added.

July 8, 2026: New event, Liberation Day Unilateral Global Tariffs

I added Liberation Day Unilateral Global Tariffs to the timeline. This covers the global tariffs Trump implemented via executive order. It has since been struck down in the Supreme Court.
