Background
John Bolton is an American attorney and foreign-policy official who served as National Security Adviser during Donald Trump’s first term and previously as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. After leaving the administration he became a prominent critic of Trump. He wrote a book titled “The Room Where It Happened,” declined to endorse Trump’s 2024 campaign, and was among the former officials Trump directed his Justice Department to investigate in his second term.
