Marco Rubio is an American politician serving as U.S. Secretary of State in the second Trump administration. A Republican, he represented Florida in the U.S. Senate from 2011 to 2025 and sought the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. As Secretary of State he directed a campaign to revoke the visas of international students tied to pro-Palestinian campus activism, stating that he would take away the visa of anyone he identified, and he was among the officials in the 2025 Signal group chat. After Mike Waltz was removed as National Security Adviser in May 2025, Rubio additionally served as acting National Security Adviser.
