Office of the New York State Attorney General

Description

Office of the New York State Attorney General; state legal office that won the $364M civil fraud judgment against Trump and dissolved the Trump Foundation

Background

The Office of the New York State Attorney General is the chief legal office of New York State, with authority over civil enforcement, including charity and business-fraud matters. It brought the lawsuit that dissolved the Trump Foundation in 2018 for a pattern of illegality, and, under Attorney General Letitia James, won the 2024 civil judgment ordering Donald Trump and the Trump Organization to pay $364 million for inflating asset values. James was later among the officials Trump directed the DOJ to investigate.
