Background
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is the local prosecutor for New York County and, under District Attorney Alvin Bragg, brought two major criminal cases against Donald Trump and his company. It convicted the Trump Organization of 17 felony counts of tax fraud in 2022, and in 2024 it secured Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to the hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels, making him the first U.S. president convicted of a felony.
